Daddy Time: Airport Edition

In February 2010 I made a post that talked about Daddy Time. (I won't rehash the contents, but if you're interested, feel free to give it another look.)  Now that we are 20 months into the future, Daddy Time has begun to evolve and actually increase.

I still get my time early in the morning. Except now, instead of the glider in her room, it takes place in our bed, and often Taylor is a bit grumpier. In addition, there is another version of Daddy Time taking place these days.   Most evenings, I'll spend time with Taylor when she first gets home, as Linda gets dinner ready, or relaxes for a little bit (yes, I do prepare dinner at times).  Most of these evenings are spent in her back "yard" play area, but sometimes we do something special.

One day each week I pick Taylor up from pre-school as Linda is unable because of a class.  Often on these days I won't take her home right away, but instead take her someplace to spend the evening before coming home for bed.  I've taken her to various locations but her favorite, and our most frequent, is the airport..

Taylor has always been enthralled with airplanes. Actually with most anything in the sky. She will stop playing at the sound of a plane to search the sky for its source. This task isn't always easy as the hickory trees in our yard provide a very daunting canopy. Perhaps because of this advanced training, she's developed a very keen eye.

With all that being said, last week, Taylor and I ate dinner at the airport while generally soaking up the atmosphere. The weather was beautiful, as was the sunset. The moon was and bright, something that always gets Taylor excited. I brought a camera along in an attempt to document the experience.  This is becoming more difficult as she gets older. Often she will start to shut down the moment I point a camera in her direction.  Perhaps she has started to take after me in that sense.  I wish there was a way I could selectively pass on my traits.  There are two or three  I would be proud to give her.  The rest, I just hope she forgives me.  With a little coaxing and enough distractions she forgot the camera enough to let me get a little bit of video of her.

Hope you enjoy.

Hey Tom.................I loved it. Taylor is such a cutie. Where did she get that turned up nose? It definitely isn't a Batten nose. Could it possibly from her Grandmother Sandy? I can't believe how fast she's growing. We love you guys. Uncle Howard and Aunt Betty
