The Taylor Times : First Edition

This isn't going to be a post about skiing, but there is a very high risk of avalanche... an avalanche of Taylor information. I won't delay the festivities with stories of other happenings.  Perhaps after, but first let's get right into The Taylor Times.

Picture Day

A local photo studio came by Taylor's preschool for class pictures a few weeks ago.  Unfortunately it seems Taylor wasn't in the mood to cooperate with the whole process.  She came home with three pictures which accurately captured three of Taylor's often very creative facial expressions.  I won't post any of them here because they are group photos with her classmates, and it doesn't seem right to post pictures of other peoples children. Suffice to say if you've been following this blog you have seen the looks.  On the bright side, the people taking the pictures were able to see the sweet little girl hiding behind the scowl.  They offered us a free session at their studio to get some pictures of Taylor sans attitude.

Out of that session they gave us quite a few very cute thumbnail proofs. It was difficult, but after consulting with some interested parties, we narrowed it down to 5 pictures.  We got very few physical pictures, but I scanned them into the computer so we'll be able to print out multiple copies. Following are the pictures we selected.

This is my favorite for it's artistic flavor. We got a copy of it in 8x10 and hope to have it framed.

Taylor hamming it up.

The "innocent" look.

100% pure sugar... no artificial sweetener required.

This is the close up , her typical "school" picture.

Pumpkin Patch: Episode II

Again this year we took Taylor to the pumpkin patch organized by our local church.  As with most experiences, this excursion differed greatly from our last visit.  For starters, last year we stopped by to pick up a pumpkin on one of the last days it was open.  This year we showed up on the first day around the time they opened the gates.  There weren't many people to start with, but there was an abundance of orange gourds.  Taylor liked the pumpkins, but her main focus was on the array of play activities.  They had "bouncy houses", playground equipment, slides, and a bowling area among other things.  We spent a while wandering around while Taylor played, then took a short walk on the Meditation Trail to a small stream.

I did get some video. Unfortunately  I used the camera to take the video and there was no room left over for  pictures.  We do plan to go back a little bit later to pick out a pumpkin (with the warm weather here, if you carve one too soon it will be decomposed by Halloween).  We plan to take some pictures at that time.  If there are any good ones, I'll be sure to post them here.  In the mean time, here is some footage of Taylor at the pumpkin patch.

Short Shorts

Since Taylor is becoming more verbal by the day, I thought it would be nice to include some short quick vignettes.  The video was shot with a regular camera, so the microphone is a little quiet.  You may have to adjust your speakers accordingly.

"It Is!"

The setting is Sunday evening.  Taylor has taken a bath and is having a little snack before bed.  Football is on TV, but we had watched some golf earlier in the day.  Taylor wants to watch some more golf, but just won't believe us when we tell her it's not on right now..

"No Barking!"

Taylor tries to enjoy a little play time in her house but the neighborhood dogs are interrupting her peace and quiet.

"Dinner With Taylor"

The camera was sitting on the table (among many other things) and I was done eating.  So I grabbed the camera and trained it on Taylor.  The following occurs after most food consumption has taken place.  The audio is a little difficult to understand.

Well, that's all for now.  There is much more I could put in this spot, but If I keep adding I'll never get it completed.  As usual, I'll try to get updates put up a little more frequently in the future.

This was the first day of deer hunting and I'm here all alone. What a nice way to spend the evening....seeing Taylor grow up before my eyes. She's a gem.
